Hey, I'm Kiarash! I'm currently diving deep into low-level systems security as part of my thesis-based Master's in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo. My research is all about making networks, distributed systems, operating systems, and storage solutions safer and more resilient.
Before this, I earned my Bachelor of Mathematics in Statistics from the University of Waterloo, where I got to play around with machine learning and data science, tackling all sorts of interesting projects. Professionally, I've been a Data Scientist at Hoorak Smart Software Solutions, fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) and building insightful dashboards to make tech smarter and easier to use.
I've also been involved in some cool research projects—like creating datasets for detecting cyber-attacks on 5G networks and finding better ways to predict hardware failures in large-scale storage systems. Some of my work has even made it into top conferences like the International Conference on Network and Service Management.
I'm passionate about using technology creatively to protect critical systems. I love collaborating with others, brainstorming solutions, and taking on complex security challenges. When I'm not glued to my computer screen, you'll probably find me exploring new tech trends or working on a fun side project.
